Penang Cocktail Week 2023: 20-29 October

Mark your calendars folks - Penang's first ever cocktail festival is coming!

This 10-day long festival, initiated by Koh Yung Shen, (owner of Backdoor Bodega - Asia’s 50 Best Bars list in 2022 at #97), will be participated by 10 local cocktail bars: Backdoor Bodega, BaoBae, Biso, Chez Chez, Cocktails and Shots, Foxhole 24, The Mandarin, The Nest, No Bar Here, and Nomad. 

 

These bars will be hosting a packed roster of cocktail workshops, bartending masterclasses, bartending competitions, cocktail parties around George Town, and will feature guest shifts and appearances by bartenders and bars from around Malaysia and the world such as: 

• Jean Trinh (winner of the World’s 50 Best Bars Bartender’s Bartender Award 2022) of Alquimico, Columbia
• Thanos Prunarus of Baba Au Rum, Athens
  
• Agung Prabowo of Penicillin, Hong Kong
  
• Sip Sensei from Jakarta
• Roberto Bava, CEO of Cocchi Vermouth
  
• Abi Clephane of Bruichladdich
  
• Malaysian cocktail industry legends including Shawn Chong and Karl Too, Pahit, Skullduggery, Coley, Rakh, Frank’s, Reka, and Bar Terumi (Selangor), Tiga Bar (Ipoh), Budi (Melaka), Cabinet 8 (Johor), and many more.
