Rémy Martin Celebrates 300 Years

Born in 1724, the House of Rémy Martin will celebrate 300 years of exceptional cognac-making this year. To mark its tricentenary, the House will connect past, present and future with a year of special activities around the theme ‘We Dream Forward’.

To mark the milestone, anniversary celebrations will take place through the year in all four corners of the globe, including in Malaysia. One event is the The Rémy Martin Bartender Talent Academy competition, with the top 24 around the globe will come together for a global final in France in September.

The Rémy Martin Bartender Talent Academy is an international competition created in 2017 that provides an opportunity for bartenders from around the world to showcase their creative bartending and communication talents through three different tests. This year, the challenge is to craft a cocktail that not only toasts to Rémy Martin but also serves as a reflection of this significant moment of celebration, embodying the spirit and legacy of the brand's 300-year journey.

This year, the 12 participating bars include Bā by 61 Monarchy, Bar Trigona, Hyde at 53M, Penrose, Three X Co, Woobar, Backdoor Bodega, Drunken Gelato, Good Friends Club, No Bar Here, Cabinet 8 by JWC and Tales Creator.

The finals culminated at the Rémy Martin's 300th Anniversary party on 9 May where Thanesh Joel of Backdoor Bodega won first place with Melvin Lim of Bar Trigona as first runner-up and Lai YS of Penrose getting second runner-up. Thanesh Joel will be headed to France in September 2024 for the Global Finals — joining the 23 other contestants from around the world.
